I usually hop on to BlueSky / BlackSky in the middle of the night to scratch my restless brain. But since it’s down tonight, I figured I would ramble here instead.
What’s been going on with me? Well, I splurged on 2 hardcover books at my favorite bookstore today. Probably shouldn’t have done that LOL. But bills will be there regardless so YOLO. 😋
I’m slowly getting my mom settled into her new apartment. I was able to visit with her and my grandmother today, so that was nice. Hopefully it will be easier for us to spend time together going forward.
My tomato plant is producing, but I’m concerned about yellow leaves. Did I over-fertilize? Under-fertilize? I need to research that. I don’t think it’s a watering issue. The soil is adequately moist, not too wet. I considered planting another for this season, but I’d end up with more tomatoes than I can eat.
I made a fresh account on AO3 recently. Been on there for a while, but I wanted a clean slate for sharing my fiction.
I’ve been considering tiptoeing back into organized religion lately. I visited a local Black Episcopal church, and I was pleasantly surprised by the service. I have a love-hate relationship with my Baptist+COGIC upbringing. I, like many people, ran from the homophobia, misogyny, anti-intellectualism, and hypocrisy of traditional churches as soon as I left home at 18. Ancestral veneration keeps me grounded, but the quiet rhythm of Episcopal services is also a comfort to my scattered AuDHD perimenopausal mind. I don’t get caught up in the immaculate conception and resurrection, so I don’t fully qualify as a Christian. Is Afro-Christo-Paganism a thing? Maybe that best describes me because me & hoodoo go together real bad. I’ll mull that over later.
The humidity is already annoying. I dread the coming months. Summer is such an uncomfortable season.
